Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Xcode Build Ledger (“the App,” internal codename XcOdyssey) handles information when you use our macOS application distributed on the Mac App Store or otherwise made available by the developer. The App is a local developer utility that reads Xcode build activity logs and shows build-time statistics on your Mac.
Summary: The App is designed to process data on your device. It does not require an account, does not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and does not upload your build logs or statistics to our servers by default.
1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- The Xcode Build Ledger macOS application (
com.xcodyssey.app) - Data processed on your Mac in connection with the App’s features
It does not cover websites or services operated by third parties (for example, Apple’s Mac App Store or Xcode), which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information the App may access
To provide statistics, the App may read and process the following types of information only from folders you explicitly authorize (typically your Xcode DerivedData directory):
- Build activity logs — Xcode
.xcactivitylogfiles and related log content needed to extract build events - Build metadata — such as project or target names, scheme names, build durations, success or failure indicators, and timestamps parsed from those logs
- File paths — paths that appear in logs or that you choose in the App (for example, DerivedData or a custom data directory)
- Xcode version hints — when available from log content, for display or diagnostics
The App does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location, calendar, or browsing history.
3. Information stored on your device
The App stores data locally to remember your preferences and aggregated statistics, for example:

When App Sandbox is enabled (Mac App Store build), data is kept within the App’s container or other locations
you explicitly grant through the system file picker. Non-sandbox development builds may use paths such as
~/.local/share/xcodyssey/ unless you configure otherwise.
4. What we do not do by default
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use the App to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not automatically upload your build logs, project names, file paths, or statistics to the developer’s servers.
- The App is not designed to make routine outbound network requests for its core statistics features.
If we add optional online features in the future (for example, crash reporting, analytics, or cloud sync), we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before collecting or sharing new categories of data.
5. How you control your data
- Folder access — You choose which DerivedData (or other) folder the App may read via the macOS open panel. You can change or revoke access in Settings or macOS privacy controls.
- Scanning — You initiate or configure scanning; the App does not claim to modify your Xcode projects or builds.
- Export and sharing — If you export a report, copy a summary, or share files, you decide what leaves your Mac. Exported content may include project names and paths.
- Deletion — You can remove aggregated data by deleting the App’s data files (for example
events.json) or uninstalling the App and removing its container in macOS.
6. Legal bases and Apple App Privacy labels
For App Store disclosure purposes, the App’s primary processing is on-device for app functionality. Data is used to show build-time statistics and is not linked to an identity we maintain, because we do not operate a user account system.
Apple’s trademark Xcode belongs to Apple Inc. This App is not affiliated with Apple; it only reads standard Xcode build logs on your machine with your permission.
7. Children's privacy
The App is intended for developers and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Security
We rely on macOS App Sandbox, user-granted folder access, and local file storage. No method of electronic storage is completely secure; you are responsible for securing your Mac and any exports you create.
9. International users
The App processes data on your device where you use it. If you export or share data, that transfer is under your control and may be subject to the laws of the destination you choose.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated in App release notes or on this page. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
